I loved everything about this beautifully engaging book! The use of rhyme was very appealing to younger children and immediately 'hooked' them in to the informative text. The fun storyline captured children's attention with lots of opportunities for discussing the vocabulary and lively language. The pictures of each yoga move by the child and corresponding animal, gave an excellent pictorial representation for visual memory. The font was a perfect size for young children to follow and connect with. I particularly liked the use of predominantly basic colours for illustrations which drew the children's eyes to the pages and was not overwhelming. What a perfect way to end the story with the 'Windmill breathing', which is such a powerful, positive affirmation for all. 'The Yoga zoo' is a must to buy for young children and a book to treasure :-)
What a fantastic and well considered comment Lynette. Many thanks for your time. jx
You certainly have captured every child's attention with this book. The colourful pictures, the text, the visuals, and rhyme make this appealing for all. The stripes on Tiger Tom, complete with tail is very clever. I'm looking forward to giving this a go with my class, although I won't manage the splits myself!!!! I'll leave that to Mickey Monkey.
Thanks for sharing it with me.
